The charismatic Clarissa Guffey Nagy in her brand new tasting room in Old Orcutt, featuring the distinctive wines found only in Santa Maria Valley!

I’ve written about Clarissa Nagy recently, on both my blog and my column for the Santa Maria Times on Sunday, October 19th, 2014 as From the Vine. On that date, she was nearly ready to open her new tasting room in Old Orcutt. Yesterday was her grand tasting, and I stopped in to take some photos to share of this lovely woman and her comfortable new tasting room. I hate to admit it, but I stopped in because I was in town, having forgotten it was the day of her grand opening of the new tasting room.

The list of her wines that are currently available

I must say, if you’re anywhere near Old Orcutt through this weekend, I highly recommend stopping in to to visit with this charming winemaker, and learning all about her Santa Maria focused white and red wines. You won’t leave empty handed. And if you’re a local, from anywhere on the Central Coast, Clarissa offers a 10 percent discount on your purchases. Her tasting room is open only by appointment on Monday and Tuesdays, open regular hours from Wednesday through Saturday, and closed on Sundays. The beautiful thing about this tasting room is that more often than not, you’ll get to meet this extraordinary winemaker herself at the wine bar. Oh yeah, and I nearly forgot to mention she was at Bonaccorsi Wine Co. ( for several years, and now also makes the wines at Riverbench Vineyards in Santa Maria Valley (!

Old wall at Nagy

This fabulous old wood wall came from antique wood reclaimed from Clarissa’s great grandparents homestead built in 1890. The photos, appropriately, represent an homage to Santa Maria Valley. Clarissa is devoted to this extraordinary wine growing region.
