Pico at the Los Alamos General Store

From the Vine in the Santa Maria Times and Lompoc Record was published today, covering Pico at the Los Alamos General Store.
What can I say about Los Alamos and it’s tremendous growth as a culinary scene, simply wow! I never dreamed it would grow in such a tremendous way. Yet I credit the Full of Life Flatbread restaurant and flatbread factory for getting it started. Behind them came the outstanding Bell St. Farm and Bob’s Well Bread, and in the last year, our newest fave, the Los Alamos General Store. Not to mention several good wine tasting rooms like Bedford Winery and Casa Dumetz just a few doors down.

The newest addition to this one-year-old culinary destination at the Los Alamos General Store is a grand backyard patio, with a chicken coop at the far end, and a rental apartment behind the tasting room. What’s not to like? You can actually live on-site while visiting and indulge in the array of grand foods and wines, only a few steps away from your living quarters.

We already loved it for the killer Pico Restaurant with Chef Drew Terp, who is a partner in the eatery with owners Will Henry and his wife and partner, Kaliope “Kali” Kopley.

Now they’ve expanded the bar offerings by adding cocktails as well as a great array of local Central Coast wines. During our recent most visit, we purchased a bottle of the Lumen 2016 Starry Rose, and it was fabulous. If you love dry Rose, this is one you’ll want to stock up on, too. Lumen is a brand in which Henry collaborated with pioneer winemaker Lane Tanner to create exceptional wines from Santa Barbara County. He also has a new project in offering wines sold in cans with his new Nuclear Wines, available at the tasting room.

Here’s a “taste” of the menu to entice your appetite: IMG_7625

There’s no doubt about it considering the amazing array of restaurants and tasting rooms you can visit, almost daily!

Bon appetit!
