Looking for great local Pinot Noirs at affordable prices–we have them!
We love going out to our local tasting rooms that focus on Pinot Noirs, where we always find great buys–so can you!
The first shot is of Talley Vineyards killer Pinot Noir Rosemary’s Vineyard 2012 which earned a handy 98-points from Wine Enthusiast, and a private dinner we had with the Talleys, which I’ll be covering on this coming Sunday, Feb. 26th in the Santa Maria Times and the Lompoc Record. Get ahead of the story at www.talleyvineyards.com. The Bishop’s Peak 2012 Syrah, a very good value-priced wine, was also showing off it’s pretty fruit despite its awesome predecessor with our filet mignon dinner.
We love winemaker Mike Sinor’s wines at Sinor-LaVallee in Avila Beach. His new Pet-Nat Rose of Pinot Noir is well worth checking out, but it won’t last long. Not with people like us buying two bottles at first and then returning for six more bottles–yes, it is that good! Go to www.sinorlavallee.com.
We are also huge fans of El Lugar, a new, small brand by Coby Parker Garcia, winemaker at Claiborne and Churchill, both in Edna Valley. This small brand dedicated to Pinot-based wines, both white and red is well worth seeking out. They hold occasional open house events with tasting and purchases available at the sweet Petal Club flower shop on Fiero Lane in SLO, near the airport and the Fed-Ex shipping shop. We also recently visited Chanin and Lutum wines in Lompoc’s Wine Ghetto, for the fantastic wines by winemaker Gavin Chanin. We love his amazing Pinot Noirs and Chardonnays (particularly the Lutum Chardonnay from Durell Vineyard grown in Sonoma County. Check it out at www.lutumwines.com.
Let’s face it, you can’t go wrong with our killer Central Coast Pinot Noirs!
